TV series Oliver Twist (2007) watch online freeThe series is based on the novel by Charles Dickens. Oliver Twist, an ordinary boy who had a hard fate. For a very long time, others have played them, forcing them to balance between good and bad. But no matter what, the boy remained himself, always good, with pure thoughts and kindness in his heart.
Probably, only this novel by Charles Dickens was filmed so often and with such love by various authors and directors. Probably, the writer managed to put into his work everything that was important for the modern reader. That is why he is so loved and respected and read so much in different countries. Before us is a special film adaptation from the BBC channel, which promised to be the best of all that we have ever seen. Whether the authors succeeded or failed, let's figure it out. So, we have before us a pretty good embodiment of the classics, but at the same time, a sufficiently high-quality picture by modern standards that can show us a decent level of technical embodiment and a cool story in principle. A new, completely incredible world appears before us, with which, most likely, we have not met before. Perhaps only when reading the work of Dickens. Therefore, we can not take into account the meeting in our imagination. All the villains and just unpleasant types in this series cause only pleasant impressions, which literally make you share your emotions with everyone around you. I like this approach of the authors of the script, because first of all they set a goal to create a good atmosphere - it was possible, you will not say anything. The actors also perform well, they try very hard and give out great images, among which there are greedy, greedy and cruel types who are very, very memorable. The headmistress of the workhouse, Mrs. Corny, is most striking in this regard. She, of course, is not devoid of feminine charm, but still evokes some feelings of fear when you look at her and understand what kind of person this is in front of you now. Will be remembered and the drunkard and the simpleton Mr.Bumble, the overgrown stinker from the undertaker's family, his mother - the sharp-nosed, swaggering misunderstanding in the cake-hat, the charming little handsome man and ladies' man Dexterous Dodger (somewhat reminiscent of Huck Finn), even the doggie Typhoon and the raven played superbly. And of course the old Jewish rascal Fagin (Timothy Spall) and the monstrous Sykes (Tom Hardy), who is gradually going crazy. The last two characters were more than attractive. I only want to say good things about them, although you don't expect anything super cool from their game. But they show their best side, which is undoubtedly great and wonderful! The viewer is imbued with real love for these characters and great pleasant memories of meetings. Well, this is great, this is wonderful, there is, as they say, something to see. Fagin turned out to be an especially surprisingly bright hero, although I really wanted to see the salvation of this hero. He is a very interesting and incredibly kind hero who comes from a noble society, but much cleaner than many other high-ranking characters, capable of behaving like villains. For this person, many of life will not stand so authoritative. There are other heroes with whom this character contacts in one way or another. Judges, who should be fair at all, once finished off the feathered singer Ezekiel, simply because they wanted to annoy the buyer of stolen goods. At least Fagin provided the boys with shelter and at least some food, although of course not without the benefit of his beloved. And his extremely unexpectedly courageous, even heroic act in court makes him take off his hat in front of him. As for Sykes, Hardy is unusually good in another villainous incarnation, although one cannot fail to notice that he resorts to his old tricks in the image of gopniks and drunks - he stares for a long time without blinking at his victim, wheezes hoarsely and grins crooked teeth, however, despite all this he manages to dig up in Sykes seemingly buried forever, very deeply hidden human and even a little love. Street villains and various snakes are not very pleasant to meet in this life. The one really worth fearing is Monks-Edward. He is very cruel and does not know any alternative other than betraying a person and getting everything in order to be in his gain. Many murderers from the works of Dickens remind us not just of cruel killers, but of people who are not really going to kill directly, but do it by means of their position. Against the background of all of the above, some pale and goodies are a little annoying. They even irritate, because you don't need to stare at them and you shouldn't disassemble the soul. Lord Brownlow is a kind of aristocrat who can only have contempt for the poor. Nothing more. Even in the middle of the series, you don't have any emotions for him. This is weird for a character. And even to pity him, oddly enough, I do not want to, because he has no mental anguish. I just want to shout in my hearts: "Grandfather, take off your zenki!" His pupil Rose, a young woman of marriageable age, is a more winning game, since a girl is really kind and brave, but still too predictable and cute to the point of soreness. Unless Mrs Bedwin's granny-servant (played by Anna Messi, a distinguished British actress, unfortunately, recently deceased) is very touching and captivating with her patience and kindness. And, of course, dear unhappy Nancy is very good, despite the fact that Sophie Okonedo who played her is far from beautiful. Do you know what spoils this show? Believe it or not, the worst thing about the project is Oliver Twist himself, who, according to the idea, should be the leading character who is obliged to make the series better and more interesting. In theory, we should worry about this guy, we should hold our fists for him, but no, for some reason Oliver looks just mediocre and completely uninteresting. It's amazing how something could have come out of such an empty place like this hero, such a fuss could flare up. Of course, Dickens did not portray his hero in this way, but in a completely different way. But in the end, Oliver just turns out to be nothing. Surprisingly. I don’t really like him, and I’m not the only one who will notice some kind of set-up. You believe unconditionally to the neglected thieves from Fagin's gang (Dodger, even Rotten), but chubby Twistic, blood and milk, whose angelic expression on his face does not change throughout the film , just decoration. As a result, when he sings Christmas carols surrounded by new relatives and bows to the camera in pictures, it seems that now he will wink slyly and say to the bewildered viewer: “I cleverly fooled you all, right? What, bought into the image of an unfortunate orphan? " In short, he's some kind of fake. It seems to me that only Monks will grow from such a Twist and nothing else. It's a shame that he is no different from many other poor Londoners. I don’t know what is pleasant about the project to say that even if there’s no happy ending here. Well, dear viewers, let's try with you just to watch this project, if you are interested in it, and draw our own conclusion. Well, enjoy your viewing, dear viewers, good mood. If I can get a grade, it will only be seven out of ten. It's a pity. there could have been more. PS Many thanks to kateRM for her excellent cinematic taste and always impeccable cinematic guidance.
During my life I managed to watch several adaptations of "Oliver Twist". Five pieces, no less. British and American. Including the film adaptation of Roman Polanski. And all of them - feature films and TV series - to be honest, were so different that in some places it seemed they were united only by the name. What, however, a fertile ground for experiments Charles Dickens left to the coming generations of filmmakers. Judge for yourself - the first "Oliver Twist" was filmed in 1922, and the last, which, in fact, we are talking about - in 2007. A decent time. During this time, so much has happened - wars, revolutions, including scientific and technical ones, and the tragic and (agree!) Rather gloomy story of an orphan boy from a workhouse - is still relevant for society and the world ... But - I wanted to say something else.Don't say that, but the poster for the film is, as Vladimir Ilyich said, "the most important thing." If not for the poster, I would not have paid attention. And here I look - painfully familiar faces are depicted. Looked closely - for sure! Well ... I had to see what, by the way, I do not regret at all. I will list why. First, the cast. You yourself probably remember the actors depicted on the poster - they starred in many famous films, one might say, blockbusters. I will not voice the filmography of everyone, it is enough to mention the most famous works. Timothy Spall (The King's Speech, Harry Potter), Sophie Okonedo (Ace Ventura 2), Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises). The actors are iconic: no matter how they play, and, accordingly, films with their participation are good largely due to their participation in it. Secondly, there is no that dryness and deliberate stiffness that distinguishes British TV series about the Victorian era. In terms of dynamics and visuals, this film, in my opinion, is closer to the last film adaptation of Guy Ritchie's "Sherlock Holmes" than to the old-fashioned manner of presentation of Dickens himself. Third, the soundtrack. Which is even more associated with the mentioned film by Guy Ritchie. Contemporary adaptations of Celtic, Welsh and Irish music. Sufficiently aggressive and energetic when needed, and melancholic and lyrical when needed. All in all: excellent acting, good direction and atmospheric soundtrack. Three undoubted advantages. Those who are not eager to read Dickens in the school curriculum should at least watch this series - then you can safely write an essay; for those who have read or seen other adaptations - I think it will be interesting to compare, because the pros are obvious, but the minuses ... to be honest, I did not find. On a five-point scale, I would give 4+. No, I would have put five with a minus, but I didn't find any minuses, so that's it.
