- What is your name, young man? - Homer. - Are you our new scribe? The authors, it seemed to me, decided to make fun of the famous work of the ancient author. Now viewers can look at this strange project and say - God, what have they done! We have the good fortune to observe the grinding in with Penelope, the prolonged puberty with Telemachus, the psychologist Odysseus, the frisky Laertes and Mentor, who is preoccupied with sexual problems. It was not possible to do without clichés and stereotypes! Everything turned out somehow too protracted and very sad. I didn't like it absolutely! There was a feeling that it was not the hero, the husband, who returned home, but some kind of nutcase. I do not know why the authors decided that they could be original, but I did not believe in their success. It was absolutely not worth calling this picture "Odyssey". Only everything was spoiled by such a move, because the adventure turned into some kind of floundering in everyday problems and analysis of gender characteristics. Delirium, in short, I could not imagine such a mediocre retelling of the legendary work. Better to see Konchalovsky. The only plus of all this is the actors. They look good. But is that enough? I don’t think so.
Hello to all. I would like to share my impression of watching the film series "Odyssey". I advise connoisseurs of beauty to pass by. Don't waste your precious time. I was hoping to see a film based on a great work, but I was disappointed. The plot is primitive and painfully banal. I would not even dare to compare it to a soap opera. Those are sometimes more interesting and informative. In addition to explicit scenes, constant nudity and everyday scenes, you will not see anything. Authors! Hey! Where is Odyssey? What were you trying to show? The production looks cheap and worthless. Actors rushing from one extreme to another. Although it was not the fault of the actors, what they wrote was what they played. And in some places they played very well. But the characters of the heroes are not fully revealed. And actions and deeds are sometimes very inconsistent and painfully predictable. Against this background, the meaning of the television series is lost, and the idea of Ancient Greece has greatly deteriorated. Yes, many such moments are missed in the picture that the meaning rises upside down. But on the other hand, washing, humiliation, suffering was shown. And the country looked like a village with five inhabitants, and the army besieging the city generally consisted of three people. There is no scale, no significance, the meager budget of the series is immediately visible. There are no decorations, and the costumes are no better. In general, I do not recommend watching the TV series. I didn't like it, and I think everyone who appreciates real history and literature, don't spoil your mood.
If you love beautiful TV shows, if you adore cool stories and reliable historical projects, then be sure to watch some other series, but not this one. There is nothing outstanding about this project. I do not know who was involved in its creation, but the authors clearly did not quite understand what they were doing. Although they took the immortal poem of Homer as a basis, but in the end they got it ... I don't even know what to call it in principle. Perhaps some old soap operas and Brazilian films look much better than that. There is no talk of any Odyssey here. The author chews on all everyday and very trivial problems, which, among other things, dilutes with scenes of violence, revenge, sex, which from series to series are becoming more boring and monotonous. The scenes with nudity were taken only because in other serials there is also nudity and you can catch a potential viewer on it. But, as it turned out, even naked bodies do not save you from complete creative failure. Here events and plots turn out to be extremely ridiculous, and feelings are exaggerated, which is why the development of characters, the psychology of some heroes, and just the whole picture turns into something incomprehensible. Poor actors. How they try to play, but nothing happens in the end. Cheap theatrical performances are visible against the background, and the pettiness of the characters simply freezes out. To look at this while expecting something more is utter hell. Ancient Greece is shown disgustingly. It doesn't look like it at all, to be honest. I've never seen anything worse in my life. Ulysses' story is known to many. It is twisted to disgust. Something else is not clear - Gods were blown somewhere in an incomprehensible direction. In the temples there are not statues of gods, but some cheap stuffed animals. Not at all like what Christians worshiped. No divine revelations, no mythical monsters, no signs, no one really believes there in gods, no one met with them, did not interact, and this was at that time! Of course, Ulysses “heard the voice of Athena” and fought with monsters, but this was mercilessly thrown out of the text, where there was only room for more “essential” things, like washing in a sauna, humiliating a prince, suffering a slave girl dreaming of becoming a queen, and the like. The production is also terrible. It’s true, it really was impossible to do all this at a more professional level. Due to the small number of heroes, they constantly bump into each other and try to portray some kind of conflict. When an army besieges a city, it becomes generally funny - about ten twenty people at most. And the inhabitants of that same city are even less. It seems that in those days the king of Ithaca did not rule the country, but a simple street in the city. The poor set and imperfect costumes and military ammunition make the series even less attractive. In a word, whoever appreciates the works of Homer and the history of Ancient Greece at least in the least, it is better not to watch the series. We pass by, and if we did, we forget it as a bad dream. The score is one out of ten!
