The Thaw series watch online for freeThe year is 1961, the Mosfilm film studio. The young and talented cameraman Viktor Khrustalev and his friend and screenwriter Kostik are having a drink in a relaxed atmosphere in the hostel of VGIKA. And then tragedy strikes. Konstantin falls out of the window and dies. After his funeral, a brilliant scenario is found in his personal belongings, which has not been approved anywhere. Khrustalev comes to the idea of making a new film based on him, and with this idea he turns to the director Egor Myachin, who was present with him at the funeral. Soon such an opportunity will be provided to them. Together they take part in the filming of the film "The Girl and the Brigadier". A love affair runs through the entire film. The main characters, Egor and Victor, meet with the same girl at the same time. Her name is Maryana. She is a student of the Chemistry Department of Moscow State University and is the prototype of the main character of the film. The flavor of that time is emphasized by the songs at the end of each episode.
You know, I rarely watch a movie and feel genuine pride in my homeland. Yes, there is still cinema in Russia, although it sometimes seems that he was already killed or that everything was done to prevent him from becoming. There are also talented directors in Russia who know how to painstakingly do their job and piece together a wonderful picture! Todorovsky managed to do the almost impossible. He conveyed absolutely precisely the entourage and atmosphere of the time about which he filmed his film. Remember the similar work at Sukachev's, where men chop dominoes day and night, and the tea has long cooled down in ryhuka and Belomor burns. Here you also seem to go back fifty years. And what a wonderful feeling when you realize that our guys have made such a masterpiece. Todorovsky was able to show real life, the real world with real people, and not the evil face of the Soviet government. That is why this domestic series is unique. But I don’t even want to call this movie a serial ... it’s a movie ... a movie with several parts. It should be noted the gorgeous music of Konstantin Meladze and the brilliant work of the actors. Mikhail Efremov here comes very close to the level of his great father. As long as the work has existed, I have never heard a negative response about it, except that the actors in the frame drink and smoke too much. Well, what's wrong with that: they have always smoked, and now they also smoke, do not judge people for that. The actors who perform this action, apparently, were specially selected. Without them, the film could lose an important part of its atmosphere and originality, whatever one may say. And so, Thaw turned out to be the most honest film that I have ever seen. He is not subject to time. Bravo to the creators!
A wonderful picture. Looks with interest. Fairly believable, vivid characters, the acting is inspiring. There is a certain grotesque: the faces are more expressive, the costumes are brighter, the characters behave more freely, they are not so unambiguous - this one is good, and this one is bad - as it usually happened in Soviet films about that era. However, this is called art. The taste does not change the authors of the film. The music is just wonderful. I do not support the opinion that Khrustalev is a cynic. A completely adequate person, a specialist in his field, knows his own worth, works conscientiously, does not show off, does not show off, tries to help - persuades Myachin to work in the film, Pronin (studio director) - to accept the film of the deceased screenwriter for production. His cynicism manifests itself only in the episode "chair, window, got up, left", and about this he is very worried. I consider him a completely positive, life-like character. Played well. Krivitsky, who was impeccably played by Efremov, pleased. I am sure that Efremov Sr. would be satisfied with the level of his son's acting skills. Of course, not only in this film. Kolpakova, Derevianko, Yatsenko, Chipovskaya, Isakova worked perfectly. All the actors are good guys. The Thaw is an absolute success. Todorovsky managed to shoot a multi-part film, which stands out noticeably against the background of a large number of stamps. The picture, I am sure, will be remembered. I will not be surprised if there is a continuation - the ending of the tape assumes this. Watching many American seasonal shows and series, I must say that this film compares favorably with quality, content, plot integrity, depth, skill of the actors and excellent production.
It's been a long time since the soul was so happy while watching a movie, let alone a TV show. The main thing that distinguishes this series from others is the play of the actors. Well, where else can you enjoy the acting if not in a movie about a movie? The Soviet surroundings, of course, pleases, now it has become fashionable to shoot on the theme of the Soviet Union, and I confess I like this fashion. But what is important is not what "about" the Soviet era, the main thing is "how" in the Soviet era. In those days, the main thing was acting, and not at all the visual series, dynamics and dust in the eyes. We were pleased with the scale of the filming: we will see streets, courtyards and even an avenue along which old trolleybuses slowly pass. Today you do not often see something like this when filming TV series about the Soviet years, everything ends with a demonstration of ancient barns, destroyed churches in the outback, and, probably, that's all. It will be good if they show a building that is an architectural monument. I would especially like to note the sound design: the series is filled with music, it forms an indescribable atmosphere of carelessness, lightness, with a little sadness, it does not irritate from frequent repetition. I was really surprised to learn that the film's composer is Konstantin Meladze - I never expected such a gift from him. I want to say that I liked the play of actresses Isakova, Chipovskaya, Dvorzhetskaya. Efremov looks in his place in the tape. Derevianko, as usual, liked him, a very colorful artist. Tsyganov is incomparable as a boorish cynic. The movie was shot by good and kind people. And good and kind people will like it. And those who criticize this series are bad and evil people. I would advise the latter to finally become human.
